Spring Spring is a delightful season. The temperatures are moderate, and the blooming trees and flowers make the city bright with colors. This is the time when we can begin to wear lighter and more brightly colored clothes and go outdoors more often. Smaller children like to bring their kites out to the spacious square. Also I enjoy going back to the village on this holiday after being in the city for the winter months. Summer is the great season for all sports in the open air. It is the season for football which is often called the national sport because of its popularity. I usually watch television and read the newspaper reports about the football results of the little leagues. During the summer I like to go to the beach often because it is very close to my home. I usually go there during the summer vacation to relax after many months in school in the city. I feel very fortable with the familiar quiet life of the villagers. Autumn For me the autumn or fall starts in September when school starts its new term. I usually do some shopping. The mild weather made it very nice to study outside under the trees in a *** all park close to my house. I like to look up the leaves changing colors from green to red and yellow, and then brown colors. The park also has many bright fall flowers; sometimes I see a *** all squirrel ing down from the tree to hunt for food on the ground. On the weekends, I sometimes like to fly my kite. Usually on the street corners you can see street peddlers selling warm baked sweet potatoes. This is a nice time of the year. Winter Winter is very cold and windy in most parts of China. I usually look forward to the Spring Festival and the winter holiday when I can go to the south where the climate is warmer during these holidays. Also, I look forward to seeing my grandparents and my friends. Winter is the time everyone is in a festive mood. In the city, I usually do a lot of reading at home in the winter because of eh cold weather outside. Winter Fun W inter Wonderland I gloo"s in the snow N ew snow falling T ubing down hills E veryone having R eindeer racing to delver presents.

You dragged your feet when you went out. By the gate now, the moss is grown, the different mosses, Too deep to clear them away! The leaves fall early this autumn, in wind. The paired butterflies are already yellow with August Over the grass in the West garden; They hurt me. I grow older. If you are ing down through the narrows of the river Kiang, Please let me know beforehand, And I will e out to meet you As far as Cho-fu-Sa. 4 The Return by Frances Richey What do you say when you"ve forgotten how the grass *** ells, married to the dark soil crumbling in your hands? When the sun makes a bed for you to lie in? When a voice you"ve never heard has missed you, singing down your bones—— it"s taken so long to get here. Now I"m breathing in the mountains as if I"d never left. And when I go inside I"m surprised to see a lime green worm has landed on my shorts, inching his way across a strange white country. He stops and rises, leaning out of himself—— a tiny periscope peering from the glow of the underdream where there are no symbols for death. He looks around. I place my index finger at the tip of what I guess to be his head, though I don"t see an eye or an ear, or the infinitesimal feet as he crawls across my palm—— a warmer planet. Lately I"ve wondered what hand guides my way when I am lost. I can"t feel him though I see him rise again, survey the future, flat and broken into five dead ends. I curl my fingers to make a cup and carry him like a blessing to the garden—— What will happen next is a mystery—— to be so light in the world, to leave no tracks. 5 The Routine Things Around the House by Stephen Dunn When Mother died I thought: now I"ll have a death poem. That was unforgivable yet I"ve since forgiven myself as sons are able to do who"ve been loved by their mothers. I stared into the coffin knowing how long she"d live, how many lifetimes there are in the sweet revisions of memory. It"s hard to know exactly how we ease ourselves back from sadness, but I remembered when I was twelve, 1951, before the world unbuttoned its blouse. I had asked my mother ***I was trembling*** if I could see her breasts and she took me into her room without embarras *** ent or coyness and I stared at them, afraid to ask for more. Now, years later, someone tells me Cancers who"ve never had mother love are doomed and I, a Cancer, feel blessed again. What luck to have had a mother who showed me her breasts when girls my age were developing their separated countries, what luck she didn"t doom me with too much or too little. Had I asked to touch, perhaps to suck them, what would she have done? Mother, dead woman who I think permits me to love women easily, this poem is dedicated to where we stopped, to the inpleteness that was sufficient and to how you buttoned up, began doing the routine things around the house.

Shall I compare thee to a summer"s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate:你比夏天更美丽温婉。Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,狂风将五月的蓓蕾凋残,And summer"s lease hath all too short a date:夏日的勾留何其短暂。Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,休恋那丽日当空,And often is his gold complexion dimm"d;转眼会云雾迷蒙。And every fair from fair sometime declines,休叹那百花飘零,By chance or nature"s changing course untrimm"d催折于无常的天命。But thy eternal summer shall not fade唯有你永恒的夏日常新,Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;你的美貌亦毫发无损。 Nor shall Death brag thou wander"st in his shade,死神也无缘将你幽禁,When in eternal lines to time thou growest:你在我永恒的诗中长存。So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,只要世间尚有人吟诵我的诗篇,So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand and what dread feet? What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? What dread grasp Dare its deadly terrors clasp? When the stars threw down their spears, And water"d heaven with their tears, Did He smile His work to see? Did He who made the lamb make thee? Tiger, tiger, burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

I celebrate myself, and sing myself,我赞美我自己,歌颂我自己, And what I assume you shall assume,我所承担的一切,你也必须承担, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. I loafe and invite my soul,我闲游,并邀我的灵魂同往, My tongue, every atom of my blood, form"d from this soil, this air,我的舌头,我血液中的每个原子,都由这泥土、这空气所形成 Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same,我生于这里,我的父母生于这里,他们的父母也生于这里, I,now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin,我如今三十七岁,在健康良好的状况下出发, Hoping to cease not till death. I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass. Creeds and schools in abeyance,教条和学派先放一旁, Retiring back a while sufficed at what they are,but never forgotten,让他们暂且后退,满足于现状,但不被遗忘, I harbor for good or bad,I permit to speak at every hazard,我心怀善与恶,我要不顾一切地述说, Nature without check with original energy. Spirituality and Religion in Whitman"s Song of MyselfWhile he takes a great deal of material from Christianity, his conception of religion is much more complicated than the beliefs of one or two faiths mixed together. Whitman seems to draw from the many roots of belief to form his own religion, putting himself as the center. Whitman brings philosophical significance to the most simple objects and actions, reminding America that every sight, sound, taste, and smell can take on spiritual importance to the fully aware and healthy individual. In the first cantos, he says, "I loafe and invite my soul," creating a dualism between matter and spirit. Throughout the rest of the poem though, he continues this pattern. He constantly uses the images of body and spirit together, bringing us to a better understanding of his true conception of spirituality. There are many "popular" topics used frequently by authors. Love, religion, and war are some favorites. Two other such topics we typically read about are nature and death. The two can be discussed separately or they can be related to each other. Walt Whitman, a lover of nature, tackled these subjects in "Song of Myself" from Leaves of Grass. "Song of Myself" is a celebration of life and God. Whitman loved everything imaginable about nature. He loved people, animals, and himself. Throughout this extensive poem, Whitman mentions "red" people (Indians), "Negroes", butchers, women, the poor and the rich. He believed that all are good in some way or another and all people are equal. Walt Whitman"s “Song of Myself” is, on the most basic descriptive level, a really long poem. Whitman is clearly a poet with a lot to say, or at least with a lot of different ways to say it. He meanders from the micro to the macro, from atoms to the whole earth.

We don"t always get our hopes and dreams, and we don"t always get our own way. But don"t give up hope, because you can make a difference one situation and one person at a time. Look for the beauty around you--in nature, in others, in yourself--and believe in the love of friends, family, and humankind. You can find love in a smile or a helping hand, in a thoughtful gesture or a kind word. It is all around, if you just look for it. Give love, for in giving it you will find the power in life along with the joy, happiness, patience and understanding. Believe in the goodness of others and remember that anger and depression can be countered by love and hope. Even when you feel as though there isn"t a lot you can do to change unhappiness or problems, you can always do a little--and a little at a time eventually makes a big difference. 诗歌《A Nation"s Strength》 Ralph Wall Emerson Not gold, but only man can make A people great and strong; Men who for truth and honor"s sake Stand fast and suffer long. Brave men who work while others sleep,Who dare while others fly; They build a nation"s pillar deep And lift them to the sky. 评论:A Review of the Poem A Nation"s Strength The poem entitled A Nation"s Strength was written by an American poet named Ralph waldo Emerson, who was a representative of apriorist writers as well as a poet.In this poem he warmly sang high praises of the backboues of a great nation, who, for the sake of the truth and honor, fight and work selflessly and fearlessly. This poem clearly shows the great image of the nation"s backbone:who stand fast and suffer long for truth and honor"s sake, and who work while others sleep. There fore, they build a nation"s pillar deep, and make a people great strong. After reading this poem,I am determined to become a member of the nation"s backbone when I grow up. Though the poem is short, the ideas it expresses are deep. The language in the poem is simple, but the rhythm and the rhyme are not only beautiful but easy to read aloud and learn by heart. 诗歌一 nothing gold can stay2诗歌翻译:Nothing gold can stay 岁月留金 Nature"s first green is gold, 大自然的第一抹新绿是金, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf"s a flower; 整月没肉吃,面包讨人嫌 And Richard Cory, one calm summer night, 而理查. Went home and put a bullet through his head. The Red Wheelbarrow By William Carlos Williamsso much depends upon 一群 白色的鸡雏旁a red wheel barrow 一辆红色的手推车glazed with rain water 雨水中晶莹闪亮beside the white chickens 承载着如许分量六 Death, Be Not Proud1诗歌简介: 约翰u2022邓恩(John Dunn,1572~1631 ), 是十七世纪英国玄学派诗人,为Tu2022S艾略特特别推崇,于其中布罗茨基和这位久远年代的异国诗人 . Death, Be Not Proud by John DonneDeath,be not proud, though some have called theeMighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;For those whom thou think"st thou dost overthrowDie not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,And soonest our best men with thee do go,Rest of their bones, and soul"s delivery.Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,And poppy or charms can make us sleep as wellAnd better than thy stroke; why swell"st thou then? One sort sleep past, we wake eternallyAnd death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die. In a station of the metro The apparition of these faces in the crowd; Petals on a wet, black bough 2诗歌翻译I was angry friende: 我与友人结怨: Itold my wrath,my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: Itold it not,my wrath did grow And I watered it in fears, Night and morning with my tear; And I souned it with my smiles, And with soft deceitful wiles. And it grew both day and night, Till it bore an apple bright, And my foe beheld it shine, And he know that it was mine. And into my garden stole, When then night had veiled the pole; In the morning glad see, 清晨我高兴地看到, My foe outstretched beneath the tree.

On His Being Arrived to the Age of Twenty-Three by John Milton How soon hath Time, the subtle thief of youth, Stolen on his wing my three-and-twentieth year! My hasting days fly on with full career, But my late spring no bud or blossom shew"th. Perhaps my semblance might deceive the truth That I to manhood am arrived so near; And inward ripeness doth much less appear, That some more timely-happy spirits endu"th. Yet, be it less or more, or soon or slow, It shall be still in strictest measure even To that same lot, however mean or high, Toward which Time leads me, and the will of Heaven; All is, if I have grace to use it so, As ever in my great Task-Master"s eye. :感怀蜗牛从容中的 *** 感怀蜗牛从容中的 *** by Thom Gunn The snail pushes through a green night, for the grass is heavy with water and meets over the bright path he makes, where rain has darkened the earth"s dark. He moves in a wood of desire, pale antlers barely stirring as he hunts. I cannot tell what power is at work, drenched there with purpose, knowing nothing. What is a snail"s fury? All I think is that if later I parted the blades above the tunnel and saw the thin trail of broken white across litter, I would never have imagined the slow passion to that deliberate progress. :往昔的时光 往昔的时光 by Robert Burns Chorus For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We"ll tak a cup o" kindness yet, For auld lang syne! We twa hae run about the braes, And pou"d the gowans fine, But we"ve wander"d monie a weary fit, Sin" auld lang syne. We twa hae paidl"d in the burn Frae morning sun till dine, But seas between us braid hae roar"d, Sin" auld lang syne.

BUT wherefore do not you a mightier way Make war upon this bloody tyrant, Time? And fortify yourself in your decay With means more blessèd than my barren rime? Now stand you on the top of happy hours, And many maiden gardens, yet unset, With virtuous wish would bear your living flowers, Much liker than your painted counterfeit: So should the lines of life that life repair Which this time"s pencil or my pupil pen, Neither in inward worth nor outward fair Can make you live yourself in eyes of men. To give away yourself keeps yourself still, And you must live, drawn by your own sweet skill.

1).In the Still of the Night I descry bright moonlight in front of my bed. I suspect it to be hoary frost on the floor. I watch the bright moon, as I tilt back my head. I yearn, while stooping, for my homeland more. 2).A Tranquil Night Abed, I see a silver light, I wonder if it"s frost aground. Looking up, I find the moon bright; Bowing, in homesickness I"m drowned. 3).In the Quiet Night So bright a gleam on the foot of my bed--- Could there have been a frost already? Lifting my head to look, I found that it was moonlight. Sinking back again, I thought suddenly of home. (Tr. Witter Bynner) 4). Night Thoughts I wake, and moonbeams play around my bed, Glittering like hoar-frost to my wandering eyes; Up towards the glorious moon I raise my head, Then lay me down---and thoughts of home arise.

When will the moon be clear and bright? With a cup of wine in my hand, I ask the blue sky. I don"t know what season it would be in the heavens on this night.

Morning Song Sylvia Plath Love set you going like a fat gold watch. The midwife slapped your footsoles, and your bald cry Took its place among the elements. Our voices echo, magnifying your arrival. New statue. In a drafty museum, your nakedness Shadows our safety. We stand round blankly as walls. I"m no more your mother Than the cloud that distills a mirror to reflect its own slow Effacement at the wind"s hand. All night your moth-breath Flickers among the flat pink roses. I wake to listen: A far sea moves in my ear. One cry, and I stumble from bed, cow-heavy and floral In my Victorian nightgown. Your mouth opens clean as a cat"s. The window square Whitens and swallows its dull stars. And now you try Your handful of notes; The clear vowels rise like balloons. From The Frontier Of Writing The tightness and the nilness round that space when the car stops in the road, the troops inspect its make and number and, as one bends his face towards your window, you catch sight of more on a hill beyond, eyeing with intent down cradled guns that hold you under cover and everything is pure interrogation until a rifle motions and you move with guarded unconcerned acceleration-- a little emptier, a little spent as always by that quiver in the self, subjugated, yes, and obedient. So you drive on to the frontier of writing where it happens again. The guns on tripods; the sergeant with his on-off mike repeating data about you, waiting for the squawk of clearance; the marksman training down out of the sun upon you like a hawk. And suddenly you"re through, arraigned yet freed, as if you"d passed from behind a waterfall on the black current of a tarmac road past armor-plated vehicles, out between the posted soldiers flowing and receding like tree shadows into the polished windscreen. Digging Between my finger and my thumb The squat pen rests; as snug as a gun. Under my window a clean rasping sound When the spade sinks into gravelly ground: My father, digging. I look down Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds Bends low, comes up twenty years away Stooping in rhythm through potato drills Where he was digging. The coarse boot nestled on the lug, the shaft Against the inside knee was levered firmly. He rooted out tall tops, buried the bright edge deep To scatter new potatoes that we picked Loving their cool hardness in our hands. By God, the old man could handle a spade, Just like his old man. My grandfather could cut more turf in a day Than any other man on Toner"s bog. Once I carried him milk in a bottle Corked sloppily with paper. He straightened up To drink it, then fell to right away Nicking and slicing neatly, heaving sods Over his shoulder, digging down and down For the good turf. Digging. The cold smell of potato mold, the squelch and slap Of soggy peat, the curt cuts of an edge Through living roots awaken in my head. But I"ve no spade to follow men like them. Between my finger and my thumb The squat pen rests. I"ll dig with it.

Everyone is a traveler, choosing the roads to follow on the map of their continuous journey, life. There is never a straight path that leaves one with but a sole direction in which to head. Regardless of the original message that Robert Frost had intended to convey, his poem, "The Road Not Taken", has left its readers with many different interpretations. It is one"s past, present and the attitude with which he looks upon his future that determines the shade of the light that he will see the poem in. In any case however, this poem clearly demonstrates Frost"s belief that it is the road that one chooses that makes him the man who he is. "And sorry I could not travel both..." It is always difficult to make a decision because it is impossible not to wonder about the opportunity cost, what will be missed out on. There is a strong sense of regret before the choice is even made and it lies in the knowledge that in one lifetime, it is impossible to travel down every path. In an attempt to make a decision, the traveler "looks down one as far as I could". The road that will be chosen leads to the unknown, as does any choice in life. As much he may strain his eyes to see as far the road stretches, eventually it surpasses his vision and he can never see where it is going to lead. It is the way that he chooses here that sets him off on his journey and decides where he is going. "Then took the other, just as fair, and having perhaps the better claim." What made it have the better claim is that "it was grassland wanted wear." It was something that was obviously not for everyone because it seemed that the majority of people took the other path therefore he calls it "the road less traveled by". The fact that the traveler took this path over the more popular, secure one indicates the type of personality he has, one that does not want to necessarily follow the crowd but do more of what has never been done, what is new and different. "And both that morning equally lay in leaves no step had trodden black." The leaves had covered the ground and since the time they had fallen no one had yet to pass by on this road. Perhaps Frost does this because each time a person es to the point where they have to make a choice, it is new to them, somewhere they have never been and they tend to feel as though no one else had ever been there either. "I kept the first for another day!" The desire to travel down both paths is expressed and is not unusual, but "knowing how way leads on to way", the speaker of this poem realizes that the decision is not just a temporary one and he "doubted if I should ever e back." This is his mon sense speaking and acknowledging that what he chooses now will affect every other choice he makes afterward. Once you have performed an act or spoken a word that crystallizes who you are, there is no turning back and it cannot be undone. Once again at the end of the poem the regret hangs over the traveler like a heavy cloud about to burst. He realizes that at the end of his life, "somewhere ages and ages hence", he will have regrets about having never gone back and traveling down the roads he did not take. Yet he remains proud of his decision and he recognizes that it was this path that he chose that made him turn out the way and he did and live his life the way in which he lived. "I took the road less traveled by and that had made all the difference." To this man, what was most important, what really made the difference, is that he did what he wanted, even if it meant taking the road less traveled. If he hadn"t, he wouldn"t be the same man he is now. There are many equally valid meanings to this poem and Robert Frost may have intended this. He may have been trying to achieve a universal understanding. In other words, there is no judgment, no specificity, no moral. There is simply a narrator who makes a decision in his life that had changed the direction of his life from what it may have otherwise been. It allows all readers from all different experiences to relate to the poem.

On the seashore of endless worlds children meet. The infinite sky is motionless overhead And the restless water is boisterous. On the seashore of endless worlds The children meet with shouts and dances They build their houses with sand, And they play with empty shells. With withered leaves they weave Their boats and smilingly float them On the vast deep. Children have their play on the Seashore of worlds. They know not how to swim, They know not how to cast nets. Pearl-fishers dive for pearls, Merchants sail in their ships, While children gather pebbles And scatter them again. They seek not for hidden treasures, They know not how to cast nets. The sea surges up with laughter, And pale gleams the smile of the sea-beach. Death-dealing waves sing Meaningless ballads to the children, Even like a mother while rocking her baby"s cradle. The sea plays with children, And pale gleams the smile of the sea-beach. On the seashore of endless worlds children meet. Tempest roams in the pathless sky, Ships are wrecked in the trackless water, Death is abroad and children play. On the seashore of endless worlds is the Great meeting of children. MY SONG THIS song of mine will wind its music around you, my child, like the fond arms of love. This song of mine will touch your forehead like a kiss of blessing. When you are alone it will sit by your side and whisper in your ear, when you are in the crowd it will fence you about with aloofness. My song will be like a pair of wings to your dreams, it will transport your heart to the verge of the unknown. It will be like the faithful star overhead when dark night is over your road. My song will sit inthe pupils of your eyes, and will carry your sight into the heart of things. And when my voice is silent in death, my song will speak in your living heart. When Day Is Done If the day is done ,假如时光已逝, If birds sing no more . If the wind has fiagged tired ,风儿也吹倦了, Then draw the veil of darkness thick upon me ,那就用黑暗的厚幕把我盖上, Even as thou hast wrapt the earth with The coverlet of sleep and tenderly closed ,如同黄昏时节你用睡眠的衾被裹住大地, The petals of the drooping lotus at dusk. From the traverer, 路途未完,行囊已空, Whose sack of provisions is empty before the voyage is ended ,衣裳破裂污损,人已精疲力竭。 Whose garment is torn and dust-laden , Whose strength is exhausted, remove shame and poverty , And renew his life like a flower under如花朵般焕发生机。 The cover of thy kindly night .
