duration是名词，有两层意思1、持续，持久2、时间长度，时期。最常见的是：（1）学习时间、学制（如大学的duration是4年，研究生的duration是3年）；（2）事件的持续事件；（3）战争的持续时间（如抗日战争的duration是8年）；（3）飞机、电动车等的续航时间、一次充电里程。

duration可以理解成敏感性，就是市场收益率变动一定的幅度，债券价格的变动百分比是多少。duration越大，债券价格对收益率的变动就越敏感。duration 指标假设所以期限的收益率都发生相同幅度的变化（parallel shift），在这种情况下，债券的价格变动多少。这种称为是interest rate risk。如果不同期限的收益率变动的幅度不相同（non-parallel shift），就无法用duration指标来准确地衡量价格的变动。那么在这种情况下价格的波动，称为是yield curve risk。
