　　摘 要：语言和思维是紧密相关的。英汉思维方式之间存在着很大差异，这种差异不仅映射在语言本身的特点上，而且还映射在语言的使用上。因此本文从分析两者思维的差异着手，进而分析了他们在语言使用中的不同体现和特点，并为语言的教学提出了启示。 　　关键词：思维方式 差异 映射 　　 　　引言――思维与语言的关系 　　 　　语言和思维相互影响，相互作用，互为表征。一方面，语言既是思维的主要载体，也是思维的主要表现形式；另一方面，思维方式制约着语言结构，制约着说话和行文的遣词造句，影响文章的谋篇布局。“思维方式的不同必然导致语言结构的差异”(连淑能，1993)。 　　著名的语言家吕叔湘则认为：“思维方式、思维特征和思维风格是语言生成的哲学机制。语言实际上是紧紧地附着在思维这个有无限纵深基础上的结构体。”(1990) 　　思维是人类所共有的，但各民族之间的思维方式却可能有很大的差别，因为历史、文化、生活环境、地域等都在无形中影响着人们的思维定势。在人类发展过程中，各民族借助于语言形成思想，同时又形成各种思维模式。不同的民族有着各自不同的思维方式，即各个民族之间有着思维差异，它们又都影响和制约了他们的语言，而每一种语言又都体现着该语言的思维方式。汉英两种语言同样反映着两种不同的思维模式。因此，学习一门外语就不仅仅意味着掌握一种工具，学习一种技能，而且更是一种思维方式和思维习惯的转变。学习一门外语确实要学习以操这种语言的人所习惯的观察世界的方法和角度来观察世界，也就是说要清楚他们思维上的差异，才能更好地掌握一种语言。 　　1. 英汉两种思维方式的差异及其在语言上的映射 　　1.1 主体意识和客体意识的差异 　　中国哲学以人本为主体。正如老子所言：“人法地，地法天，天法道，道法自然。”孟子也言：“万物皆备于我矣。”中国文化本质上是一种人本文化，强调主体意识、人文精神。经过长期沉淀，形成了汉民族本体型的思维方式，即以人为中心来观察、分析、体验和研究事物的思维方式。反映在语言上则多表现为：(1)多用“人称”主语；(2)多用主动句；(3)多用无主句及主语省略句，且主语(话题)和动词的关系很松散。 　　西方文化则以物本为主体，以自然为本位，对客观的“事”、“物”予以更多的关注，逐渐形成了客体型的思维方式，即把客观自然世界作为观察、分析、推理和研究的中心，强调客体意识。反映在语言上则表现为：(1)“物称”主语用的也很多；(2)被动句与主动句并重；(3)主语一般不能省略且主谓必须一致。 　　1.2汉式思维模式是形象的、直观的，在语言上，汉语用词倾向于具体，常常以实的形式表达虚的概念，以具体的形象表达抽象的内容，而英式思维则是概括的、抽象的(连淑能，1993)。 　　1.3英语重直线思维，汉语重曲线思维，也就是说在表达思想时，英语更直接，往往先把要点说出来，再说其余部分；而汉语较委婉，一般先从外部说明，最后才点出中心。在语言上表现为英语句式多为前重心，头短尾长；而汉语句式多为后重心，头大尾小（李青，2003）。 　　汉语是曲线思维，忽视形式，不注重逻辑，形式和逻辑不严密，因而汉语缺乏英语的形式机制。汉语用词汇手段来表达语法意义，句式结构较为发散；英语是直线思维，重形式，注重逻辑，其句式结构严谨，极其重视语法形式，一般情况下所有的句子成份都得到体现。例如： 　　生活中既有悲剧，文学作品就可以写悲剧。 　　Tragedies can be written in literature since there is tragedy in life. 　　1.4 在篇章方面，中国人的思维方式也和西方人大不相同。中国人先大后小，先抽象后具体。先讲大道理后小道理。中国人的思维是演绎式的，西方人是归纳式的。所以中国人的篇章结构模式为螺旋式的，而西方人的为直线式的。汉语通过语序等把因果、时空、修饰等关系表达出来。一般是按照思维程序的先后顺序，事情发生的先后顺序表达；而英语叙述时间的顺序在句中比较灵活，它可以先叙述后发生的事情，后叙述先发生的动作；在口译中应让学生牢记这种由思维差异而造成的句式特点，要求学生在汉译英时注意语言的组织性和逻辑性。例如： 　　他五岁时候，生了一场伤寒，变成了聋子。 　　He became deaf at five after an attack of typhus fever. 　　1.5 汉语注重意合，英语注重形合，差异极大。“意合和形合是语言组织法，所谓形合，指借助语言形式手段(包括词汇手段和形态手段)实现词语或句子的连接；所谓意合，指不借助语言形式手段而借助词语或句子所含的逻辑关系来实现它们之间的连接。前者注重语言形式上的接应，后者注重行文意义上的连贯”。（潘文国，1997）例如： 　　1. 这本小说已译成许多国家的文字。 　　The novel has been translated into many foreign languages. 　　2. 桥已经建好了。 　　The bridge has been completed. 　　汉语擅长用具体形象的词语表达抽象概念，同时汉语作为意合语言是通过语序把因果、时空、修饰等关系表达出来的，而且汉语句子标准也较宽松，常有无人称、无主语、无时态表达方式，而思维逻辑严密的英语则必须表达清楚，常常用“it”作形式主语。这表明汉语重意念，英语重形式。汉语多用意合，“即靠意义上的衔接而不一定依赖连接词语，而英语多用形合，即在句法形式上使用连接词语将句子衔接起来”。（方梦之等，1996）英语使用大量的虚词联结句子的各部分，具有连接和转折意义的功能词很丰富。例如： 　　I"d like to go if he wouldn"t. 　　他不去我去。 　　用抽象概念表达具体事物以及大量用概括、笼统的抽象名词表达理性概念，这在英语中使用得相当普遍，尤其是大量使用抽象名词。例如： 　　更好地了解当地文化有助于我们的工作。 　　A better knowledge of the local culture will benefit our work. 　　1.6 英美人偏好分析思维，中国人偏好综合思维。分析思维是指在思想上将一个完整的对象分解为各个组成部分，或者将它的各种属性、方面、联系等区分开来。综合思维则指在思想上将对象的各个部分联合为整体，将它的各种属性、方面、联系等结合起来。由于英美人偏好分析，导致了思维上部分优先的思维操作特点，而中国人偏好综合，导致了思维整体的优先。其差异反映到语言表达层面上具体表现为英美人谈问题常从具体问题开始，而中国人谈问题常从宏观、全局的问题上讲开。反映现实要素的顺序是：英语语序表达是“个体→整体”，汉语是“整体→个体”。 　　2. 教学启示 　　在英语教学中应该正确引导学生去了解和学习英汉两种思维的差异及其在语言运用中的体现，例如进行主客体、主被动态等的转换，以实现思维模式的飞跃。对于习惯主体思维方式、频繁使用主动句的中国学生来说，引导他们根据语义逻辑改换或增添句子主语，调整句子语态，以符合英语表达和思维习惯就成了教学中的关键。 　　 　　结语 　　 　　潘文国教授曾呼吁从语言哲学的高度研究语言，从更深一层去探讨人类语言的本质，研究客观世界、主观意识和语言三者之间的关系。这实际上是抓住了语言研究和学习的本质。思维是语言生成的哲学机制，语言活动归根结底其实就是一种思维活动。语言世界观更是为我们认识语言和思维的关系以及培养外语思维能力提供了语言哲学基础。学习一门外语，从某种意义上来说，就是学习一种新的语言世界观，学习一种新的思维模式，学习一种新的文化，换言之，就是一种思维方式的转换。因此，对汉英思维模式对比和研究，在外语教学中具有不可替代的作用。 　　 　　参考文献： 　　［1］方梦之等.汉译英实践与技巧［C］.北京：旅游教育出版社，1996. 　　［2］冯智强.汉英思维模式对比与外语教学.基础教育外语教学与研究，第二期，2006. 　　［3］李青.汉英口译教学中的思维问题.国际关系学院学报，第3期，2003. 　　［4］连淑能.英汉对比研究［M］.北京：高等教育出版社，1993. 　　［5］吕叔湘.通过对比研究语法［A］.上海：上海外语教育出版社，1990. 　　［6］潘文国.语言的定义.华东师范大学学报，第一期，2001. 　　［7］潘文国.汉英语对比纲要［M］.北京：北京语言文化大学出版社，1997.
