国际象棋，又称为西洋棋，是一种二人对弈的战略棋盘游戏。估计共有10^43至10^50种棋局变化。国际象棋的棋盤由64个黑白相间的格子组成。黑白棋子各16个，多用木或塑胶制成，也有用石块制作；较为精美的石头、玻璃（水晶）或金属制棋子常用作装饰摆设。历史国际象棋一般被认为源自一种印度的游戏——恰图兰卡（Chaturanga）。公元7世纪时它经蒙古传入俄罗斯。穆斯林统治波斯後，它被带到伊斯兰的国家。10世纪时它传到西班牙，11世纪传到英国。15世纪末，现代国际象棋的规则逐渐成形。现代的玩法与19世纪时的大致相同。由於流传已久，因此在各地与各时期产生不少的象棋变体规则。规则棋盤与棋子国际象棋的棋盤为正方形，由32个深色和32个浅色方格交替排列组成。每边8个方格。浅色棋格称为“白格”，深色棋格称为“黑格”，摆放棋盤时要使每位棋手的右下角为白格。国际象棋的棋子也分为两种颜色：浅色棋子称为“白棋”，执白棋的棋手称为“白方”；深色棋子称为“黑棋”，执黑棋的棋手称为“黑方”。对弈双方各有16枚棋子，分别为一王、一后、双象（或译主教）、双马（或译骑士）、双车（或译城堡）和八兵。走法括号内为英文。王（King）王是全个棋局中最为重要的棋子。走法是横直斜走均可，但每次只能走一格，且所走到的位置不可有对方棋子的威胁，否则会被视为“违规移动”（illegalmove）。吃子与走法相同。后（Queen）后是棋局中最强的一个棋子，可横直斜走，且格数不限。吃子与走法相同。车（Rook）一如中国象棋，车的走法是横走或直走，格数不限。不可斜走。吃子与走法相同。象（Bishop)象的走法只可斜走，格数不限，但不可转向。白格的象只可以在白格出现，黑格的象只可以在黑格出现。吃子与走法相同。马（Knight）马的走法和中国象棋相同，同样是走「日」字，或英文字母大写的“L”形：即先向左（或右）走1格，再向上（或下）走2格；或先向左（或右）走2格，再向上（或下）走1格。不同的是，西洋棋的马没有「绊马脚」的限制。吃子与走法相同。兵（Pawn）兵的走法是，第一步向前可走一格或两格，以後每次只能向前走一格，不可向後走。但吃对方棋子时，则是向位于斜前方的那格去吃，并落在那个格。三个特殊规则兵的升变（promotion）当某方的兵走到对方的底线（即最远离某方的一行）时，玩家可选择把该兵升级为车、马、象或后。吃过路兵（en passant）当一方的兵从原始位置向前一步走两格时，如果所到格的同一横线的相邻格有对方的兵时，则后者可以立即吃掉相邻的前者，但是占据原来位置的斜前方那一格，而不是前者原来占据的那格。不过可“吃过路兵”的一方必须在对方走棋后的下一步马上吃，否则就永远失去“吃过路兵”的机会。王车易位（castling）把王向车的方向打横移动两格，再把车直接移到王的另一侧，放在王的相邻一格。如果王与车之间有两个格的称为“王翼易位”（kingsidecastling），俗称“短易位”（short castling）；王与车之间有三个格的称为“后翼易位”（queensidecastling），俗称“长易位”（long castling）。* 某方如果发生以下情况之一后，则永远丧失王车易位的权利：1. 王被移动过。2. 参与易位的车被移动过。* 如果发生以下情况之一，则暂时不能王车易位：1.王和参与易位的车之间有棋子；2. 王所在的格，或易位时王将要经过的格，或易位后王将占据的格，正在受到对方的一个或几个棋子的进攻。记法棋盘的每一个格子由一个坐标来标识。横向的一排方格称为一“行”（rank），纵向的一排方格称为一“列”（file）。棋盘上由同色方格斜角相连而形成的斜行称为“斜线”（diagonal）。棋盘上的斜线共有26条，长短不一。最长的斜线有8格，最短的2格。斜线用始末两端的方格代号表示，例如a1-h8斜线、ci-h6斜线。a1-h8斜线和h1-a8斜线又称“主斜线”（maindiagonal）或“大斜线”（long diagonal）。为了便于记录棋谱，棋盘上离白方最近的那一行定为1，最远的那一行定为8。位于白方最左边的那一列定为a，最右边的那一列定为h。这样，白方左下角的第1格的坐标就是a1，白方王所在的原始位置就是e1，黑方后所在的原始位置就是d8。除兵以外，每种棋子都用一个英文字母表示：* K代表王，* Q代表后，* R代表车，* N代表马，* B代表象。* 兵则不用字母表示。* 记录王车易位，则以O-O表示短易位，以O-O-O表示长易位。目前通用的国际象棋记谱法是先写棋子的字母，再写由哪格走到哪格。例如Ng1-f3，表示马由g1格走到f3格。也可以简略地只写目的地，不写来源地。例如Rd3表示车走到d3格。当一方有两个同样的棋子可以到达同一个方格时，则需要写出所走棋子起始格的行或者列，例如Rad3表示在a3的车走到了d3。如果一方吃掉对方的棋子，则记谱时加上x。例如Bb5xc6或Bxc6，表示原先位于b5格象走到c6格，并且“吃”了对方的一个棋子。“将军”时，记谱时加上+。例如Qc5+表示后走到c5格并且“将军”对方的王。其他一些常用的记录棋谱的记号还有：# 表示棋赛结束。1/2-1/2 表示棋赛的结果是和棋。1-0 表示棋赛的结果是白方胜。0-1表示棋赛的结果是白方输。正式的计时比赛中，如果一方所剩的时间不到5分钟，则此方可以允许不再记谱。胜负将军与将死当一方的棋子威胁对方的“王”时，即下一步就可以把对方的“王”吃掉时，称为“叫将”、“照将”、“打将”或「将军」（check）。此时对方要设法解除对“王”的威胁：一是把攻击王的棋子吃掉，二是移动“王”到另一格去，三是用自己的其他棋子把攻击“王”的棋子挡住。当一方的“王”无路可走时，成为被「将死」(checkmate）。和棋由国际象棋世界联合会 (World Chess Federation (FIDE))的规则所规定的「和棋」局面有以下5种：* 其中一方虽然其「王」自身没有被对方「将军」，但是却没有合法的棋步可走。这种“和棋”称“逼和”（stalemate）。*任何一方以任何合法着法都无法将死对方。这种“和棋”称“死局”（dead position）。例如王对王单马、或王对王单象等等。*一方提出和棋要求，并得到另一方的同意。这种“和棋”称“协议和局”（drawn upon agreement）。*3次重复同一局面，包括两种情况：1)即将第三次（或以上）重复；2）刚刚第三次（或以上）重复。由有权提出方提出。*在连续的50个回合内，双方既没有棋子被吃掉，也没有兵被移动过。由有权提出方提出。开局开局，也称布局，是国际象棋游戏的第一阶段。一般来说，开局是从双方棋子的原始位置开始，直到第10-15个回合。开局的战略* 控制中心地区（不一定要用自己的棋子去占据中心地区）。* 王的安全得到保证。*尽快出子，使自己的子力能迅速到达进攻或防御的位置* 建立起好的兵形（pawn structure），使各个兵之间能互相呼应，以便进攻和防御。开局的完成* 双方主要子力已经基本出动，或者可以随时出动；就是说，主要子力的主要行动路线已经基本打开。*王的位置已经确定；最好已经进入比较安全的位置。* 局面结构已经基本定型。* 双方攻守计划的主要趋向已经基本明确。开局的分类现在一般把国际象棋的开局分为：* 开放性开局* 半开放性开局* 封闭性开局*印度防御* 黑方应对1.d4的其他防御* 侧翼开局* 异常开局开放性开局开放性开局（opengames）又名“双王前兵开局”（double king pawn openings），以1.e4 e5开始。因为容易引起激烈的中心争夺，造成中心区域的开放，故名。此类开局的开局过程较快，容易为初学者掌握。开放性开局可以从某些变着转化为封闭性开局。

伟大的西班牙作曲家伊萨克·阿尔贝尼兹（Isaac Albeniz,1860-1909）创作以西班牙命名的钢琴作品就有4集之多.其中作品号为Op.47的《西班牙组曲》（Suite Espanola)实际上共有两集.第一集作品创作于1886至1887年，共八首曲子，其中包括第一首《格拉纳达小夜曲》（Granada Serenata)、第二首《卡塔鲁纳库拉达舞曲》（Cataluna Curranda）、第三首《塞维利亚塞维亚纳舞曲》（Sevilla Sevillanas）、第四首《卡迪斯萨埃达舞曲》（Cadiz Saeta）、第五首《阿斯图拉斯的传说》（Asturias Leyenda）、第六首《阿拉贡幻想曲》（Aragon Fantasia）、第七首《卡斯特拉塞吉迪里亚舞曲》（Castilla Seguidillas）和第八首《古巴小夜曲》（Cuba Nocturne）。其实前三首与第八首是《西班牙组曲》第一集（阿尔贝尼斯只作完了此4曲），作于1886年，另4首是阿尔贝尼斯死后，后人将他其他作品填进去的。这是他未去巴黎前，作为优秀钢琴家的创作。第二集由《随想曲》（Zaragoza）和《塞维拉》（Savilla）两首组成。 这部作品是他晚年的倾力之作，体现着他的艺术颠峰。《伊贝利亚》Iberia 12 曲共分为四卷，前三卷9曲完成于1906年，第十、十一曲完成于1907年，而最后一曲则完成于他生命最后1909年的1月，该年5月他就病逝了。这部作品运用了西班牙的舞曲节奏并与钢琴技巧相结合。德彪西在评价阿尔贝尼兹时说：“他并没有实在引用民间音乐的主题，但是民间音乐却毫无痕迹地潜入了他的音乐。”伊比利亚是西班牙半岛的拉丁名称，十二首作品的标题分别是：⒈回想，安达卢西亚民歌；⒉海港，一处胜地的节日；⒊塞维里亚的圣体祭；⒋隆岱那舞曲；⒌阿尔梅里亚，地中海沿岸一城市；⒍特利安那，塞维利亚城郊吉普赛人聚居地；⒎阿尔拜辛，一首吉普赛歌曲；⒏波罗，安达卢西亚的歌曲和舞曲；⒐拉伐皮厄，马德里市一地区；⒑马拉加舞曲；⒒耶雷兹，吉普赛舞曲；⒓埃利塔那，塞尔维亚郊区的一酒店。当年德彪西最喜欢的是第七曲，他说世上只有极少数作品能与它比美。这套钢琴曲作于德彪西的《意象》与《版画》之后，与德彪西有相似味道，但感觉这套组曲的东方色彩比德彪西还要浓郁。 《西班牙组曲》Espana Op.164 是阿尔贝尼兹创作的由6首钢琴小曲组成的组曲，都是阿尔贝尼兹作品中较为容易弹奏的乐曲，这些大众化的乐曲同时又有很高的创作技巧，是他中期的作品。⒈ 前奏曲 Preludio乐曲采用小行板，一开始是阿尔贝尼兹喜欢使用八度齐奏，其旋律非常有没。主题部分注有“用弱音，但是要有充分的音响”的提示。就像回答主题似的，大调的分解和弦平稳流畅地奏出。接着出现的低音部是类似吉他风格的曲调，旋律中到处可听到极为优美的震音效果的创作手法，给人以耳目一新的感觉。⒉ D大调探戈 Tango in D探戈这一舞蹈体裁，起源于南美洲阿根廷的首都布宜诺斯艾利斯，二十世纪以后开始在欧美乃至全世界流行。阿尔贝尼兹创作这首乐曲时，探戈舞曲刚刚开始进入欧洲，因此本曲在节奏上与现代探戈舞曲的标准节奏并不完全相同，而更象西班牙的传统舞曲--哈巴涅拉（据说探戈舞曲的前身就是西班牙的哈巴涅拉舞曲）。乐曲为D大调，2/4拍。主部主题有着歌唱般的旋律，极富西班牙风格，其中包含着许多富有色彩的装饰音。乐曲的结构十分简单，它的中段直接由主部主题派生而来，其间加入了情绪变化以及色彩性转调。中段之后很自然地在类似“哈巴涅拉舞曲“的节奏型的伴奏下回到主部主题，然后在舒展而亲切的气氛中结束。本曲自问世以来，一直深受世界人民喜爱，因此它有着众多的改编版本，如吉他独奏曲、小提琴独奏曲和管弦乐曲等等。本曲为众多优美的探戈舞曲中的名篇，它的艺术性和欣赏性早已远远超出了做为伴舞的舞曲范畴。⒊ 马拉圭那舞曲 Malaguena乐曲采用稍快板，3/8拍。开始先是4小节的齐奏，在马拉圭那舞曲节奏之后，呈现左手的尾音拉得很长的主题。这个主题经过再现之后，是用八度奏出的经过句，在吉他风格的轻快的三连音中结束第一部分。随后速度转为慢板，歌唱性的旋律每个乐句都被分解和弦所装饰。乐曲的后面有一段华彩段，最后再现第一部分，乐曲充满感情的结束、⒋ 小夜曲 Serenata乐曲用稍快板，3/4拍、一开始是华丽并有光彩的断奏，随后右手奏出轻快如歌的主题旋律，这段旋律与开头华丽的断奏交替进行。多次反复很有趣味。中间部分转为G大调，新的曲调乘着轻快的节奏出现，在这段节奏的中途插进切分音，不久又转回开始的主题。⒌ 卡达拉那随想曲 Capricho Catalan这是一首非常抒情的小曲，采用稍快板，2/4拍。在两小节切分音节奏之后，呈现由三度音程构成的主题旋律，这段旋律中充满巧妙的自然美感，惹人喜爱。中间部分是将主题旋律变形来进行，运用了多次的转调。不久旋律又回到开始时的主题，最后由左手用八度奏出主题旋律，逐渐减弱，乐曲静静地结束。⒍ 梭齐柯调 Zortzico稍快板，5/8拍。这首乐曲有着较为困难的五拍子节奏，乐曲中的旋律也是不容忽视的，中间部分左手伴随着右手的和弦而进行，不久右手也加入旋律，双手互相交织，不断升高，这时最初的旋律插了近来，造成一种颇有特性的节奏。 阿尔贝尼兹作有钢琴奏鸣曲多部，下面是他的《降A大调第三钢琴奏鸣曲》Op.68。五、d小调玛祖卡 Mazurka d-Moll Op.67《d小调玛祖卡》Mazurka d-Moll Op.67是阿尔贝尼兹的一首钢琴小品，技巧不难，带有沙龙气息。 《A大调第四钢琴奏鸣曲》Piano Sonata no.4 Op.72，作于1887年。共由四个乐章组成。第一乐章，A大调，12/8拍，快板。第二乐章，小谐谑曲，D大调，3/4拍，快板。第三乐章，小步舞曲，G大调，3/4拍，小行板。第四乐章，回旋曲，A大调，6/8拍，快板。
