是好人，胡宗宪是抗倭名将，一生正直。胡宗宪，明朝东南倭乱时期的浙直总督，戚继光、俞大猷等抗倭名将的直接上级，也是在他的命令下才有了战无不胜的戚家军。胡宗宪当官25年，忠心为国，平倭有功，但是最后却因为权臣严嵩倒台，被当成严嵩一党遭到政敌清算，最后于狱中自杀身亡，隆庆六年明穆宗朱载垕为其平反，追谥襄懋。总的来说胡宗宪一生小节有亏，大节无碍，是明朝众多“嘴炮党”中难得的实干家。人物介绍：胡宗宪是明朝一个不可多得的人才，有勇有谋，他的死只能说是生错了时代，被打上了摘不掉的严党标签，死在了党争之下。比如御史弹劾胡宗宪贪污军饷、滥征赋税、挥霍无度等罪名，在明朝中后期整个官场几乎都是如此，就是徐阶、张居正等名臣也有这些问题。再比如造成胡宗宪死亡的假拟圣旨，胡宗宪仅是一个地方官员不具备假造圣旨的条件，这更像是一个捏造的罪名，要不然身为嘉靖儿子的明穆宗朱载垕为什么要给他平反。

记者：从当年您与匡亚明先生携手组编《大学语文》(华东师范大学出版社)到现在，这本教材已出到了第八版，其间哪些信念是你们一直坚守的，又有哪些在实践当中经过了调整？徐中玉：我想先简单地回顾一下大学语文这门课程的开设情况。作为公共课，大学语文建国初在我国各大学基本上都开设。但1952年高校院系调整后，大学语文课程随即不再开设，并从此中断了三十年。正常的人文素质教育与其他专业教育严重脱节，人文教育几乎成为一片荒漠，教训极其惨痛和深刻！针对这种严重违背教育规律的状况，上世纪八十年代初，我与时任南京大学校长的匡亚明教授共同倡议，在高校中重新开设大学语文课程。此举立即得到了南京大学、华东师范大学等数十所大学同仁们的热烈响应和积极支持。经教育领导部门批准，中断了整整三十年的大学语文课程得以重新开设。自此之后，全国开设大学语文课程的高校逐年增加，逐渐蔚然成风。我们发起组织部分全国高校专家、学者，一起来共同编写新的大学语文教材。由华东师范大学出版社出版的《大学语文》，二十多年间已经出到了第八版。这些年来，我国的思想、政治、经济、文化、学术等各方面都有了巨大的发展变化，但我们一直坚持以精选我国丰富优秀的文化、文学遗产为主，择优选入教材，作为感悟、熏陶、启发大学生人文素养的基本材料，这样做的信念从来没有动摇过。我们认为，大学语文这门课，不仅可以让大学生们进一步掌握丰富的语文知识，培养他们对祖国优秀文化、文学精品的鉴赏水平和审美表达能力，而且更有利于提高他们的人文精神和高尚的品德，铸造中国人为人的道德(鲁迅语)。无论在培养人才、发展科学，还是在激发大学生爱国热情、培养创新精神等方面，大学语文都能起到积极的作用。我们认为开设大学语文课有巨大、深刻的意义。记者：我们发现，《大学语文》似乎已经成为了一个必须被赶超的领跑者，很多同类教材，甚至是一些不成系统的边缘性读物，都在高呼取代《大学语文》，大家都清楚这中间有商业竞争与商业炒作的因素，您对此怎样评价?徐中玉：我们认为大学语文学科性质的定位，必须把重点放在讲好文学精品本身上，经过教师引导和课堂讨论，把作品讲活、讲透，使学生把握到其中所蕴涵着的人文精神实质，不是一味讲字、词、句、篇，而忽视了整体把握。不是在大学语文课中来学习文学史、文化知识，把它变成又一个思想课、观念课。坦率地讲，要做到这样并不容易，可以说大多数教师还待转变观念，改变教法，还得认真、负责，自己先要有充分的准备。有些人似乎认为大学语文最易教了，什么人都能教得好。这完全是外行话。对此我自己也要重新学习，决不敢轻薄为文，夸口妄谈。大约在1900年以后，全国出现了纷纷编写和出版大学语文教材的热潮。据不完全统计，全国各地的大学语文教材已有几十种之多，打破了教材编写中长期存在的单一状况，形成了多元互补、相互竞争的局面，给各类不同的高校选择更适合自己的教材提供了可能。这其中也确实存在一些不良现象，例如粗制滥造，照抄他人框架，改头换面一下就大模大样用来作为自己学术成果，等等，应予辨别。有些情况应值得我们认真思考和自觉杜绝。比如，前不久某报采访了一位正在新编一种大学语文教材的负责人，他竟说这本还未编出的东西，已可预言将能一统天下，学术工作者怎能如此信口开河，如此自我炒作呢!一些人文类的读物，对于扩大学生的阅读视野是有益的，但是否宜作教材，应据实际效果，不是靠商业炒作、靠自我吹嘘就能做到的。人们欢迎正当光明的竞争，应共同为提高教材的质量而努力。高校教材不会定于一尊，这是必然之理。我们一向赞同教材应郑重编写，各具特色，不断提高质量，这才是教材建设的正途。记者：一些大学语文教师很痛心，在一些大学中，大学语文课程日趋被边缘化，我们的母语教育正在受到伤害。您如何评价这种现状?徐中玉：尽管大学语文课程得到了越来越多有识之士的关注和提倡，但当前大学语文在高校教学中，仍处在边缘状态，极不平衡。主要表现在《大学语文》还没有被明确定为公共必修课，可开可不开，开多少算多少。教学时间未规定，教师缺乏编制上的保证。在一些高校《大学浯文》是否开课，时常决定于校系领导是否重视和支持，不仅各校情况不一，即使在同一所学校里，开或不开，课时多少，是否继续开设，也很不稳定，很不平衡。近年受到市场经济兴起后消费主义的严重冲击，实用主义观念大为流行，金钱至上，道德薄弱，整个社会追求立竿见影的功利效果，并以此来衡量、判断事物的价值，有些人因此对大学语文课的价值产生了怀疑，有一些高校院系要压缩、停开课程，首当其冲的往往就是大学语文。高校一般均特别重视外语、计算机技术、政治等的教育，本国语文教育似已可有可无。大学毕业时，外语是否达标，有考查办法，对母语是否达标，却没被看成问题。这是极不正常的现象，切宜考虑解决。全国自学考试将大学语文作为必考课程，而有些全日制高校却将大学语文停开或仅仅作为选修课，这种现象令人费解，令人忧虑。我知道很多发达国家知名高校的大学生，除主修某一学科外，几乎有一半学分是靠随意去选修人文、社会或自然方面的课程获得的，各种专家、专书、专题的课程有很大的吸引力。每个大学生应有一专之长，但通才教育就需要他们尽可能具有较为广博的学识，高远的视野，具有人文精神与素质。 《红楼梦》中留下这两句话：世事洞明皆学问，人情练达即文章，言简意赅，深刻中肯。仅有一些知识和专业技术是不够的，人文品行更重要。每个大学生在社会生活中都会遇到许多问题，要同各种人、各种事打交道，缺乏观察、分析、综合等能力怎么行，就非得从接受人类优秀文化传统和生活经验这一根本做起不可，因此，这种学习乃是一辈子的事。对本国语文教育应该给予足够的重视。人类精神文化的传承，大学生人文素质的培养，健全人格的形成，审美能力的提高，对于以上方面学好、教好大学语文课程的作用都是无法替代的，它的价值是无法用一时的物质回报的多少来衡量的。可以说，大学语文课程对学生一辈子有用，只能进一步加强，力求做得更好，决不可忽视、削弱。愿有更多同行，专家们，一道来加大对大学语文教育的关注。
