first grade 前面要加“the”吗?

看情况：
She is a first grade student.
first grade 一起作定语,短语的中心语是student 前面有冠词a,这时不加.
She is a student in the first grade.
in the first grade介词短语做后置定语,要加.
She is in the first grade.介词短语作表语,也要加.

强调第一的时候，一定要加the；不是第一或者不强调第一的时候，不加the。这里的a first grade student是一年级学生的意思，没有第一的意思。

first前面有 a 的时候当然不加。因为有形容FIRST的了
