Relationship Between Processing Behaviors and Story Events RecalledTo evaluate the relationship between different miscue types and reading comprehension,the sample was categorized into highand lowlevel readers.The story event score,representing readers¡¯ conceptual understanding of 14 key points from the story,was used as an indicator of reading comprehension.Readers appreciated an average of 6.57 key points (SD = 3.18,ranging from 2 to 12).The lower and upper third of readers were classified intolowand highlevel readers (n = 10 and 11),respectively,based on their story event score.Multivariate discriminant function analysis was used to evaluate the relation between story event comprehension and the different miscue types,as well as the total number of miscues and other indicators of reading ability such as speed (in words per minute) and reading grade level.
