诀窍就是：判断need在句中是作为情态动词还是实意动词用的：
need作为实义动词时和普通动词一样,否定用don't need；
need作为情态动词时比较特殊,用needn't形式.（与其他情态动词“can”,“may”,“must”的用法基本相同.）
所以关键就是判断是作为情态动词还是实意动词用.
若need后边加的是动词原形,则为情态动词；若加的是to do,则为实意动词.
所以关键在于根据need后接的是什么,判断need在句中是实意动词还是情态动词,然后就用don't need或者 needn't.

1.must用来表示推测时,译为“一定”,只能用在肯定句中.
否定句中只能用can/could not（不可能）或者may/might not(可能不)
2.must用来表示命令,建议时,译为“必须”“应该”,但是这里强调的只是主观看法而已,没有时态和语态的变化.它与have to的区别在于,have to是一种客观条件.
例如：You must do everything as I do.(这只是一种主观要求)
I have to clean my house because it is full of dust.(存在一种客观原因,所以不得不.)
回答时,肯定用must；否定用need not(needn't)或者dosen’t/don't have to.不能用mustn't（禁止）
