The day Mr.X took delivery of his new van was the day his dog decided to start out on a new career.Previously a docile
creature,Willy the cross-bred terrier turned into Lex Flex,the Canine Cruncher,in the time it took his owner to eat a three course
meal.
Having left his trusty companion to keep an eye on the smart new van,Mr.X returned from lunch to find that his new mode of
transport had been completely remodelled.What had been a sturdy,dependable method of delivering frozen foods around the city centre
would now not have looked out of place by a beach on a hot summer's day.The roof had been torn back as if with a tin opener,an air
conditioning system had been thoughtfully provided by the removal of the windscreen and the seats had been given a new look,which
might have been described as‘ripped and tattered’.Exhausted by all his hard work,Willy was having a quick nap when his owner
reappeared.
Speechless,Mr.X rushed towards his hound with his arms outstretched.Waking up with a jump,Willy sat up to greet his owner and
barked with excitement.However,being a modest sort of dog and not thinking it necessary for his devoted owner to thank him so
profusely,he bounded through the shattered windscreen and took off down the street.The Mr.X voice could be heard fading into the
distance behind him as he raced away.Ovecome with emotion,the van owner returned to survey the full extent of the new design.
These day it's not uncommon to see Mr.X driving round the streets of the city lookingfor his absent friend.Numbed by the
efficiency of his new air-conditioning system,he's often spotted scouring the streets between deliveries,under the protection of a
warm blanket Rumour has it that he's bought a small shotgun to give Willy when they are reunited,just as a small token of his
appreciation.
