Queastions about the superstition

1.Superstitions usually comes with a historical culture.As a Chinese,we have many superstitions around different times of the year.There really isn't any particular believe in them in my case,it in fact already becomes a habit of mine to follow certain superstitions as a tradition.For example,on Chinese New Year's dinner,we always have fish and dumplings,for wealth and extras,because dumplings are shaped like Chinese ancient money,and fish has the same pronunciation as "extra" in Chinese.
2.For me,it's rather irrational,or should say,irrelevant to believe or not in superstition.Superstitions usually exist to eliminate people's certain fear and hopes for good.I believe that at one time or another in anyone's life,one has surely been suspecious about the truthfulness in the superstitions he/she has been following,but I also believe that there can never be any truly satisfactory and explanotory answers to answer their question or solve the mystery.However,no one is willing to break the superstition just to prove that it's not the truth.What if something bad really happened to him/her?What if the superstition is really true?It would never hurt to follow the superstition for the sake of following it anyway.That's why many people act as though there were truth in superstitions even if they do not truly believe in them.
