It is seen from Fig.4d and e,that the active power transfer and the electrical torque of the generator also fluctuates widely during the dynamic condition in the absence of the proposed control.However,it is seen that with the proposed controller the active power transmitted in the ac line remains virtually constant,except during the duration of the fault itself when a high frequency oscillation is observed.
This oscillation is not transmitted to the generator as can be seen from the relatively smooth behaviour of the electrical torque in the presence of the controller.
Fig.4f shows the variations of the control dc power and the corresponding requirement of reactive power.It is seen that the control dc power has a steady value of 5 MW (2% of the ac power transfer) with a reactive power requirement of around 2.5 Mvar.The fluctuations are of the same order around the mean during the dynamic condition.
Fig.4g and h show the variations of the dc voltage and the corresponding injected dc current.It is seen that the voltage and current have a steady state values of 20 kV and 0.25 kA,respectively,and that their variations during the dynamic operation is quite smooth indicating no commutation failure during the fault.
