个人判断前半段的 that 是多余的赘字,影响了大家的理解.去掉它,意思就能十分完整地被翻译为:

修改后:
1.前后两个子句主词都是 "those organisms" 所以用 and 来连接,are thus dependent ...形容了它们的状态.

这个提示是说你的序列中间夹有除了ATGC以外的字符.
建议还是用bankit提交,这样如果有空格等非IUPAC字符,也可以被自动识别.另外也不会有格式问题.
