Body language is a broad term for forms of communication using body movements or gestures instead of,or in addition to,sounds, verbal language,or other forms of communication. It forms part of the category of paralanguage, which describes all forms of human communication that are not verbal language.
The relation of body language to animal communication has often been discussed.Human paralanguage may represent a continuation of forms of communication that our non-linguistic ancestors already used,or it may be that it has been changed by co-existing with language. Some species of animals are especially adept at detecting human body language, both voluntary and involuntary:this is the basis of the Clever Hans effect (a source of artifact in comparative psychology),and was also the reason for trying to teach the chimpanzee Washoe American Sign Language rather than speech — and perhaps the reason why the Washoe project was more successful than some previous efforts to teach apes how to dance.
Nonverbal communication (NVC) is usually understood as the process of sending and receiving wordless messages.Such messages can be communicated through gesture; body language or posture; facial expression and eye gaze; object communication such as clothing, hairstyles or even architecture; symbols and infographics; prosodic features of speech such as intonation and stress and other paralinguistic features of speech such as voice quality, emotion and speaking style.
The first scientific study of nonverbal communication was Charles Darwin's book The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals (1872).He argued that all mammals show emotion reliably in their faces.Studies now range across a number of fields, including kinesics, linguistics, semiotics and social psychology.Proxemics refers to how people use and interpret space.
While much nonverbal communication is based on arbitrary symbols which differ from culture to culture,a large proportion is also to some extent iconic and may be universally understood.Paul Ekman's influential 1960s studies of facial expression determined that expressions of anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness and surprise are universal.

3.在第一句中,后半句中出现了since,表示因果关系,因而应该选取前后半句中同义关系的词语,而后半句给出了人们对于肖像画出现在艺术博物馆中的看法的原因,即“它们原本是被用来为家族相册添光彩用的,而不是为了展现艺术而出现的”,因此说,在人们看来,肖像画出现在博物馆中是属于出现在了不该出现的地方,因此说选取一个表达这种“出现在了不该有的地方”色彩的词语最合适,即应该选取(A)选项;
5.
[1].(A) surprising:(令人惊讶的)to strike with wonder or amazement especially because unexpected
[2].(B) understandable:(可以理解的)have the power of comprehension
[3].(C) irrelevant:(不相关的)not relevant :INAPPLICABLE
[4].(D) challenges:(质疑)to dispute especially as being unjust, invalid,or outmoded
[5].(E) justifies:(表明或证明(某人[某事])是正当的、有理的或公正的)to show to have had a sufficient legal reason
[6].(F) changes:(改变)to make different in some particular :ALTER

接下来,就要做填空,为阅读热身.撑死1分钟一个,先看空格在哪儿,大概填的词的作用(词性,副词还是动词或者名词,从而能对其大概的作用有个印象,)然后开始找重复,一般定语从句比较好,空格=从句的整体意思;
这样的话,就有:考虑到每年有几个不认识的题,类反错5个,填空3个,阅读6个,这个section错了14个,而两个section一个简单,一个难,因此,简单的那个section,肯定会比这个错的少,即小于14个,所以,稳上1350;

As Victor Hugo once said,"Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face",and up to now nobody has been able to do this better than Charlie Chaplin. He brightened the lives of Americans and British through two world wars and the hard years in between. He made people laugh at a time when they felt depressed,so they could feel more content with their lives.
Not that Charlie's own life was easy!He was born in a poor family in 1889.His parents were both poor music hall performers. You may find it astonishing that Charlie was taught to sing as soon as he could speak and dance as soon as he could walk.Such training was common in acting families at this time, especially when the family income was often uncertain.Unfortunately his father died, leaving the family even worse off,so Charlie spent his childhood looking after his sick mother and his brother.By his teens,Charlie had, through his humour, become one of the most popular child actors in England. He could mime and act the fool doing ordinary everyday tasks. No one was ever bored watching him -his subtle acting made everything entertaining.
As time went by,he began making films. He grew more and more popular as his charming character, the little tramp, became known throughout the world. The tramp,a poor, homeless man with a moustache, wore large trousers,worn-out shoes and a small round black hat.He walked around stilly carrying a walking stick. This character was a social failure but was loved for his optimism and determination to overcome all difficulties. He was the underdog who was kind even when others were unkind to him.
How did the little tramp make a sad situation entertaining? Here is an example from one of his most famous films,The Gold Rush.It is the mid-nineteenth century and gold has just been discovered in California.Like so many others, the little tramp and his friend have rushed there in search of gold, but without success.Instead they are hiding in a small hut on the edge of a mountain during a snowstorm with nothing to eat. They are so hungry that they try boiling a pair of leather shoes for their dinner.Charlie first picks out the laces and eats them as if they were spaghetti. Then he cuts off the leather top of the shoe as if it were the finest steak. Finally he tries cutting and chewing the bottom of the shoe.He eats each mouthful with great enjoyment. The acting is so convincing that it makes you believe that it is one of the best meals he has ever tasted!
Charlie Chaplin wrote, directed and produced the films he starred in.In 1972 he was given a special Oscar for his outstanding work in films. He lived in England and the USA but spent his last years in Switzerland, where he was buried in 1977.He is loved and remembered as a great actor who could inspire people with great confidence.

如;
(Non-verbal communication)
I was an extremely verbal child, and growing up with my dad
I was an extremely verbal child, and growing up with my dad was an experiment in linguistics(语言学). My father was a man of few words. Whenever I wanted his permission for a certain activity, I planned a speech that included who would be there, where it would take place, how long it would last, and why it was an incredibly wonderful opportunity for me. He would listen and then say either “Yes” or “No.” There were never any qualifiers; not “Yes, but be home by dinner” or “No, unless you can convince me otherwise.” It was yes or no, plain and simple.
My father’s phone messages were also lessons in patience and long-suffering to a teenage girl. I was quite active in high school. Not only did I enjoy being involved in many areas, but I came into contact with many a great teenage guy. I can recall one busy day when I had met two great guys and had given each of them my phone number. The first words out of my mouth when I walked through the front door were, “Dad! Did anyone call?” His answer, of course, was simply “Yes”.I required for a more accurate description of the caller. His answer: “A boy.” Since I had met two guys that day, this did not help me. I ran to my room in tears.
Knowing my dad’s dislike of language in general and his fondness for briefness, it surprised me to hear that he was going to teach the eleven-year-old boys’ Sunday school class. He did so for not one, but many years. I always wondered if he actually said anything, or if they all just sat in their chairs and stared at each other. I was sure that if people were waiting on my father to break the ice with brilliant conversation or a springboard comment, they’d be badly disappointed. Still, September after September, my father hung his sign outside the Sunday school room: Mr. Ernst—Eleven-Year-Old Boys.
小题1: In order to get Dad to agree to the author’s outing, the author had to make up the following EXCEPT _____.
A.the friends I shall meet in the activity
B.the activity is a chance for anyone
C.the place where the activity is to be held
D.the time that I shall spend in the activity
小题2: When the author says “My father’s phone messages were also lessons in patience and long-suffering to a teenage girl.”, it means that when she was young _____.
A.her father once gave her a lesson about patience and long-lasting pain
B.her father’s brief phone messages angered her a lot but made her patient
C.she was trained to be patient and brave because of her father’s brief phone messages
D.she suffered and had to be patient because of her father’s brief phone messages
小题3: What’s the meaning of the underlined phrase “break the ice” in Paragraph 3?
A.Make the ice crack. B.Stop talking.
C.Start a talk. D.Interrupt a talk.
小题4: Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.My father would answer me with “Yes, but be home by dinner” sometimes.
B.I came into contact with just a few great teenage guys because I was active in high school.
C.That my father would teach the eleven-year-old boys’ Weekday school class surprised me.
D.I always wanted to know how my father, who talked so little, taught the boys.

He did so for not one, but many years. I always wondered if he actually said anything, or if they all just sat in their chairs and stared at each other. 以及本句中的with brilliant conversation or a springboard comment可知。

Nonverbal communication has to do with gestures, movements and closeness of two people when they are talking. The scientists say that those gestures, movements and so on have meaning which words do not carry.
For example, the body distance between two speakers can be important.North Americans often complain that South Americans are unfriendly because they tend to stand close to the North American when speaking, while the South American often considers the NorthAmerican to be "cold" or "distant" because he keeps a greater distance between himself and the person he is speaking to.The "eye contact" provides another example of what we are calling nonverbal communication.Scientists have observed that there is more eye contact between people who like each other than there is between people who don't like each other. The length of time that the person whom you are speaking to looks at your eyes indicates the amount of interest he has in the things you are talking about.
On the other hand, too long a gaze can make people uncomfortable. The eyes apparently play a great part in nonverbal communication.Genuine warmth or interest, shyness or confidence can often be seen in the eyes.We do not always consider a smile to be a sign of friendliness.Someone who is always smiling, and with little apparent reasons, often makes us uneasy.
1.According to the passage,nonverbal communication__________.
A.is a method often used by people who cannot speak
B.can tell something that words cannot
C.can be used to talk with people who cannot bear
D.is less used than words
2.The South American__________.
A.tends to keep a distance between himself and the person he is speaking to
B.usually stands close to the person he is talking to
C.is often unfriendly when spoken to
D.is often cold and distant when speaking
3.Which of the following is NOT true?
A.Less eye contact suggests distance in relation.
B.The longer one looks at you,the more interest he has in you.
C.There is more eye contact between people who like each other.
D.Shorter eye contact shows more interest in what one is talking about
4.Too long a gaze__________.
A.may upset people being looked at
B.shows one's great confidence
C.indicates one's interest in the talk
D.tells you how friendly one is
5.Constant smiling without apparent reason__________.
A.is a sign of one's friendliness
B.is a sign of one's unfriendliness
C.makes people feel happy
D.makes people feel uncomfortable
