原文中两个词都是完全可以替换的,意思不变.只是换了之后就显的没有那么生动了.
attempt是尝试,一般只没有太大把握的尝试,make an attempt,用在这里正好.try只指一般的尝试,try on some clothes,try to accpet it.
而且,我们一般不说after his try,虽然语法没有问题,但总显的不那么地道,我们可以说take a try,或者 have a try,也可以把try当动词用.而且try一般会显的比较口语化.attempt 在这里是非常地道的用法.
to learn that,learn强调的是一个学习的过程,而know强调的是结果.这里Campbell是在attempt失败后才意识到,显然用learn很形象.本人觉得其实用realize 也有异曲同工之妙.
