随著油价上涨，柴油引擎技术进步，一般消费者对於柴油车型引进的呼声越来越高。由於进口车型前置作业所需时间较少，因此可以在比较短的时间内提供柴油车款。相对国产车而言，就需要比较长的一段时间，从嗅到市场气氛、评估、接洽一直到正式生产前，中间有太多繁琐复杂的步骤需要进行。也因此几年过去了，到现在还是没有看到国产化的柴油房车。还记得之前车展曾经展出的Mondeo TDCi，搭载柴油引擎的Mondeo原本引进国产化的呼声极高，但在等待又等待之后，这个希望几乎确定落空。原本在福特六和的规划之中，Mondeo TDCi的确在引进国产化的考虑名单中。然而，在台湾认证法规底下，搭载比较旧款引擎的Mondeo TDCi将无法通过认证，要为了这个因素单独调整修改引擎，将会是耗时耗力又花钱的工作，肯定吃力不讨好。再者，因为这个原因就换装新引擎，效应一定比不上在新车上面来的吸引人。 除此之外，由於前代Mondeo在台湾因为车辆耐用度遭到消费者的质疑，整体印象也承继到这一代的Mondeo上。就算之后推出第二代、第三代，这样子的印象短时间之内都很难完全消除。也就是说，放弃这一辆车，推出新一代产品，不但能够给消费者一种诚意十足的感觉，也可以藉此摆脱以往的负面形象，重新出发。从2001年发表至今，已经差不多五个年头了，Mondeo的产品生命周及也已经显老态。 其实Mondeo本身车辆尺寸不是很足够与Camry、Teana等等对手互相抗衡，因此当初为了要让这一辆车的车身尺寸足够，特地将前后保杆的尺寸加大。这样子的作法到不是福特独有，其他车厂其实也会有类似作法，这当然主要试要配合台湾市场的特有生态所致。但不可否认的，就算车身尺寸加大，但是这一辆车当初设计的主要客层，还是离对手差了一点，表现出来总觉得少了那麼一点点东西。这也是促成福特六和想要淘汰的原因之一。而Ford Fusion，虽然在英国市场上有著一辆同名的小车，不过在美国市场的Fusion，者是一辆不折不扣的中型房车，而且新一代的设计理念，拥有比旧款产品更进步的产品力。在美国本地，Fusion全长4,831mm，已经跨越了4米8的门槛，内部空间以及内装毫无疑问地也是以这个级距为主要客层所研发的。新产品自然有新气象，再加上搭载新的柴油引擎，以Fusion的产品定位来说，出线机率颇高！ 在美国本地，Fusion搭载2.3升直四引擎以及一具3.0升V6引擎，更摆脱2.0升相对疲软的动力表现。更重要的是，Fusion能够搭载新款柴油引擎，顺利通过法规认证，在这样子的考量下，自然Fusion会被列入考虑清单内。而福特六和沉英诠总裁在日前的环保奖颁奖记者会中，也确实有透露出相关讯息。沉总裁表示，Fusion有在考虑国产化的名单内。若新产品的国产化，再加上柴油引擎车款国产的价格优势，不管是在自用还是营业用车，相信都能替福特六和打下一片江山。
