They take on new depth every time I meet them...and their"s is a love story for the ages. 　　Charlotte Bronte"s first published novel, and her most noted work, is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story. It is also one of the first gothic romances published and defines the genre. 　　Jane Eyre, who is our narrator, was born into a poor family. Her parents died when she was a small child and the little girl was sent to live with her Uncle and Aunt Reed at Gateshead. Jane"s Uncle truly cared for her and showed his affection openly, but Mrs. Reed seemed to hate the orphan, and neglected her while she pampered and spoiled her own children. This unfair treatment emphasized Jane"s status as an unwanted outsider. She was often punished harshly. On one occasion her nasty cousin Jack picked a fight with her. Jane tried to defend herself and was locked in the terrifying "Red Room" as a result. Jane"s Uncle Reed had died in this room a little while before, and Mrs. Reed knew how frightened she was of the chamber. Since Jane is the narrator, the reader is given a first-hand impression of the child"s feelings, her heightened emotional state at being imprisoned. Indeed, she seems almost like an hysterical child, filled with terror and rage. She repeatedly calls her condition in life "unjust" and is filled with bitterness. Looking into the mirror Jane sees a distorted image of herself. She views her reflection and sees a "strange little figure," or "tiny phantom." Jane has not learned yet to subordinate her passions to her reason. Her passions still erupt unchecked. Her isolation in the Red Room is a presentiment of her later isolation from almost every society and community. This powerful, beautifully written scene never fails to move me. 　　Mrs. Reed decided to send Jane away to the Lowood School, a poor institution run by Mr. Brocklehurst, who believed that suffering made grand people. All the children there were neglected, except to receive harsh punishment when any mistake was made. At Lowood, Jane met Helen Burns, a young woman a little older than Jane, who guided her with vision, light and love for the rest of her life. Jane"s need for love was so great. A dark, gothic figure, Rochester also has a heart filled with the hope of true love and future happiness with Jane. There is a strange, ominous woman servant, Grace Poole, who lives and works in an attic room. She keeps to herself and is rarely seen. 女方寄给男方的绝情信。“DearJane”的名字来源，是DearJohnletter的男子版﹝即在一段男女关系中，女方寄给男方的绝情信﹞。他们的名字显示他们的歌曲以男性角度为主。DearJane四位成员包括主音Tim(黄天翱)、吉他手Adam(戴乾亨)和贝斯手Howie(翁厚梁)及鼓手Jackal(伍汉邦)。

很多人最初知道Dear Jane，还是因为他们那几首脍炙人口的情歌《不许你注定一人》、《到此为止》、《哪里只得我共你》等，以流行摇滚的热烈与洒脱重新定义着情歌范畴。他们有着优质的创作，同时个性突出，用夹band的肆意风情闯出一条自己的音乐之路，展现着独属于粤语流行曲的浪漫。 当然，乐队的作品里又从来不只是情歌，风格流派上还囊括了朋克摇滚、金属和电音，主题上又巧用概念将摇滚与抒情在形态上达成一种平衡统一的关系。 与其他乐队不同的地方，是Dear Jane在唱与作上的优势兼而有之，分工明确，又从本土视野里开拓出新篇章，激荡出他们的内心诉求。你可以说音乐是洞见歌手的表相，但音乐何尝不是他们内在最直观深刻的肌理呢？ 正如在过去的2020年，我们谁都没有想到一样—— 这支出道17年的香港本土乐队，还能在疫情之下焕发出如此之强的“时代之音”！ 从乱流下的高歌《银河修理员》到“最强兵歌”《哀的美敦书》，从用唱片喻指爱情的《最后一间唱片铺》到完整推出的新专辑《Limerence》……Dear Jane将一张本是记载爱情不同状态的情歌专辑，由情感的细微描摹展开，将音乐融入进社会生活中，打造出勾连情景化的表达语境。 在这张专辑，八首粤语作品与三首英语作品构成了完整的概念，顺延出不同的意象展开，十分值得回味。这些，正如Dear Jane在采访中提到的一样， “音乐不应该用语言去界定”，而他们也不仅仅只有情歌。 当你走进Dear Jane的音乐世界，你会发现那些涌动的创作力、默契分工、还有他们音乐意图下的不同故事，都值得深入了解。如果说音乐人习惯打造一份作者宇宙，那《Limerence》就是Dear Jane再造出的情歌宇宙，在2020年度香港各大颁奖礼上取得多项佳绩。 最近，我同港妈@饮歌记 通过线上采访，第一时间联系到Dear Jane乐队，完成了这篇专访。 —————— 文字采写：皮皮 【从左往右：低音吉他手伍汉邦（Jackal Ng）、主音黄天翱（Tim Wong）、吉他手翁厚梁（Howie Yung）、鼓手黎俊华（Nice）】 2020最高兴 是完成《Limerence》这张大碟 单曲《银河修理员》，大碟《Limerence》，以及包揽了众多“乐队/组合”奖项的Dear Jane，都是2020年最为突出的流行符号之一。传递着能量的音乐，无非是表达，但还被冠以“疗愈”和“动人”等不同标签注解。从香港到大陆，这些都在特定的2020年成了不少粤语歌迷的心头好。 Dear Jane在采访中就分享了颁奖礼后的感怀：“今年在不同的平台和颁奖礼上都取得了一些奖项，对我们来说是一个额外的Bouns(奖励)， 2020年最高兴的，还是完成这张大碟《Limerence》。”做专辑显然并非一件易事，但他们在疫情下已经做到了高分，同时依次感谢了这次制作大碟的所有单位，从词人、编曲、制作到共同并肩的好友，没有他们就没有这张完整大碟的诞生。 当我们说聊到内地非常多歌迷喜欢这张专辑时，Howie则表达了他们的愉悦以及渴望与大家见面的心情：“听到大家都喜欢的时候，我们非常高兴。你们喜欢我们，我们也很想念你们。但实在太久没与大家见面了，希望疫情减退之后，我们有机会回来跟你们见面！”低音吉他手Jackal Ng更是表示，“大家如果都喜欢《Limerence》这个专辑，可以在家里听多点、背熟点，希望我们演唱会时可以跟大家大合唱。” 与Wyman的合作 在快问快答环节里，Howie确定这首《银河修理员》是录制时间最长的一首曲目。 “因为《银河修理员》有三个单位，混音有三遍”，正是这样慢工出细活的打磨，才赋予了歌曲更为流畅丰富的听感，打造出一首相当高质量的港式流行曲。 透过这首歌，揭开了Wyman与Dear Jane在这张专辑的合作序幕—— 虽然在采访中乐队现场回忆起近来与黄伟文的合作，“我们都相互认识了一段时间，直到前两年跟容祖儿合作歌曲《心之科学》以及和郑融合作一首《13楼的大笨象》，大家才真正有更多机会沟通”，也直到这首《银河修理员》，他们才有了最直接的、在自己作品里的合作，碰撞出创作者的火花。 当然，这首《银河修理员》还是三首由Wyman包揽歌词的作品里，唯一一首Dear Jane提出明确创作意图的作品。希望没有那么惨情，而是贴近他们幸福与守护的爱情观，黄伟文通过歌词把这份爱情拓展成为，乱流之下可贵的难得，“祝你在乱流下平安”衍生出更多时代感怀。 谈及这次的合作，Tim在采访中直言：“当时都是Howie同Wyman联络的。直到我们做这张大碟的时候，开始在想有什么新东西可以尝试的时候，其中一项是大家都想到的，就是看看Wyman想不想跟我们一起去做这张碟。非常幸运，问了他之后，他立马就说OK。我们很快约出来聊天，他也交出了非常感人的词。这是一个好的开始，希望接下来的新歌，我们能有机会继续和他一起合作。” 认识的女歌手里 Sophy最适合 收录在专辑《Limerence》里的《给防护罩一吻》，是唯一一首对唱歌，Dear Jane邀请到Sophy王嘉仪一同合作，碰撞出电光火石的音乐火花。 在这首歌中，林宝的词，乐队编曲的层次感，乃至于两把声线的交织，徘徊在感性与理性之间的情感交错，恰好是疫情下爱情的最佳写照。 Tim在采访中向我们分享了很多关于这首歌的合作故事：“为什么要找Sophy呢？其实是我们在大家一起听Demo的时候，就有了一个统一感觉，那就是要找一个女歌手合作。这首歌是合唱歌，我们先在心里默数了下哪位会更合适这一style，她又要能给到这首歌好的Limerence呢？当时我就想到了王嘉仪，她是我认识的女歌手里最合适的。于是我发了条Message给她，大家都觉得ok,她也很喜欢，于是就这样成了。” 事实证明，这样的合作无疑成就了这首2020年的一首情歌典范，从各方面都十分相衬。 遗憾是另一种美 随着完整专辑正式推出后，很多歌迷都纷纷Pick了另一首主打歌《未开始已经结束》。歌曲的故事是Howie与词人郑敏共同创作的一出锥心虐恋戏码，在MV剧情里延续了歌曲范畴的遗憾美。 在这支许多人期待已久的MV中，除了有主音Tim黄天翱参演外，还有Nancy归南茜扮演的另一个美少女驻唱歌手角色，两人上演了一段“未开始已经结束”的爱情，还原了爱情中的迷恋状态。 Tim在采访中分享了这支MV的故事：“在这个MV里，我是酒吧的老板，会请一些女孩、男孩进来我酒吧唱歌。然后，见到这一进来唱歌的女孩，发觉原来她的人挺可爱。当然，这个故事的设定有一些小小的难过与遗憾，那就是我在MV里一个已婚男士，这女孩给了他一些很久都没感受过的东西，也是险些“出轨”的征兆。好在MV里的男孩他很好，有定力，不会踏歪那一步。” 故事是有遗憾，但谁又能否认，这种遗憾本身是另一种美呢？ 而MV的拍摄中，还有一些让组合印象深刻的事情——Tim在采访中回忆道：“拍摄去了好几个location（地方）,都拍得挺开心的。我记得有一幕和Nancy听音乐时很Enjoy的状态，但我发觉我和她感受音乐的节奏有一点出入.....因为我比较大，我又想做主，我就教她怎样去听音乐，去感受这个氛围下的feel，这样出来的感受更加合适。” 当然，这次的女主角Nancy还是实体唱片封面的女Model。 专辑围绕爱情中四种不同的疯狂迷恋状态，即Hidden(隐藏)、Obsessive(强迫症)、Fantasies(幻想)、Madness(疯狂) 作为拍摄和设计概念展开，实体十分大胆地用全红色设计打底，以Nancy的大头照作为封面，引申出更具欲望与诱惑的一面。 音乐不应该用语言去界定 《Limerence》并不是一张纯粹的全粤语专辑，它还收录了三首英文歌。 一首是《Can"t Keep Going On》,一首是《Make Me Stay》，都是由Howie创作词曲，后者更是整张专辑最后一首有demo的歌曲。 而另一首则是《最后一间唱片铺》的英文版《Just Another Night In Central Euphoria》，Dear Jane先写的英文版，后来才有了粤语版的歌曲，新做的第二个编曲。 三首歌曲都是先用英文完成的创作，“我觉得原装的字，已经写了最想表达的，那就不如英语写出来”、“音乐不应该用语言去界定”。 在准备新歌和现场 期待见面 在聊到2021年的音乐计划时，Dear Jane向我们透露：“我们其实有Plan(计划)一场show，会跟另外一位歌手合作，多说点，这歌手也是女孩，我们会觉得这个Show会特别好玩。”除此以外，他们同时会争取和其他歌手的合作。 虽说刚刚发了新专辑，但Dear Jane在上年12月已经开始继续筹备接下来的新歌了，很快也会进入录音室继续做新碟。他们也期待一切好转和恢复正常时，能做更多的Line Show，也可以到内地和大家一起玩。“因为每次来到内地，在你们的地方演出真的很开心的，我们都在等疫情好转见到大家啦！”
